Don’t be a drip?

Things you can do to help really do begin at home. Why not try to save energy and some money at home by following some of our tips.

  • Toilet devices – why not put a water saving device in the cistern. They’re often free from your water company.
  • Taking a shower instead of a bath can save enough water each week to make 1,000 cups of tea.
  • Hot water – if your water is too hot, turn the thermostat down to around 60°C/140°F. Running hot water down the drain costs you money – you could waste enough to fill a bath in just five minutes.
  • Check all taps for drips and replace worn-out washers, A dripping tap can waste enough water in a day to run a shower for five minutes.
  • Avoid using sprinklers – if you do use a sprinkler your water company may wish to install a water meter and charge for the water alternatively get hold of a water butt from your local garden centre or contact your local water company.
